Reservation for Dalit Muslims and Dalit Christians
By Nemi Bhavsar
The third part of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) states that: No person who professes a religion different from Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist religion shall be deemed to be a member of Scheduled Caste.
In India, most people in the Dalit community of Muslims and Christians consist of people who have converted into Christianity and Islam due to discrimination. In India, there is not much data on the Dalit Muslima and the Dalit Christians. The caste factor is not traditionally associated with Islam or Christianity. It is traditionally associated with Hindu Culture.
